Valid PSW Certificate
PSW (Ontario), HCA (BC), CPCA (Quebec), or equivalent provincial qualification from a recognized institution.
Clear Background Check
All applicants must consent to a criminal background check, processed through our trusted partner at no cost to you.
Two Professional References
Provide two references from supervisors, employers, or clinical instructors who can speak to your care skills and character.
Legal Work Authorization
You must be legally authorized to work in Canada as a self-employed independent contractor.

Everything you need to know before applying.
You must hold a valid Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate from a recognized Canadian institution, or an equivalent provincial qualification (such as HCA in British Columbia or CPCA in Quebec). You must also be legally authorized to work in Canada and able to pass a criminal background check.
You set your own hourly rate. Most PSWs on carecoordin8 charge between $22–$38/hr. You keep 90% of every booking. PSWs working 25+ hours per week on the platform earn an average of $2,800/month. Your earnings grow as you build reviews and a strong profile.
No. PSWs on carecoordin8 are independent contractors, not employees. This means you have maximum flexibility — you choose when and how much you work. As a self-employed professional, you are responsible for your own income tax reporting. We provide an annual earnings summary to assist with this. We recommend consulting an accountant for personalized tax advice.
We respect your time. If a client cancels within 24 hours of the session start, you receive a cancellation fee equal to one hour of your rate, paid automatically. If a client cancels within 2 hours or doesn't show up, you receive half your session rate. Our policy clearly communicates these terms to clients upfront to minimize last-minute cancellations.
Earnings are released to your carecoordin8 wallet as soon as a session is confirmed complete. You can request a bank transfer at any time — funds typically arrive within 1–2 business days. Automatic weekly payouts are also available. Your full earnings history and an annual tax summary are available in your dashboard.
Yes. Our support team is available 7 days a week via live chat and phone. In the event of a medical emergency, always call 911 first. For non-emergency incidents, document the situation and contact us immediately — we'll guide you through the next steps. All bookings through carecoordin8 also include liability protection coverage for incidents that occur during the session.
The application itself takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. Our team reviews submissions within 1–3 business days. Background checks are processed separately and typically complete within 3–5 business days. Most applicants are fully approved and can accept bookings within one week of applying.
