AODA Compliance
carecoordin8 is committed to meeting the requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR). We strive to ensure that our digital services are accessible to all Ontarians and Canadians, regardless of ability.
WCAG 2.1 AA Conformance
We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines are an internationally recognized standard for web accessibility and cover a wide range of recommendations for making web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including those with visual, auditory, cognitive, and motor impairments.
Accessibility Features
carecoordin8 incorporates the following accessibility features throughout our platform:
- Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements on the platform, including navigation, forms, and buttons, are accessible via keyboard alone.
- Screen Reader Compatibility: Our pages use semantic HTML, ARIA landmarks, and descriptive labels to ensure compatibility with screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver.
- Colour Contrast: Text and interactive elements meet WCAG 2.1 AA minimum contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
- Resizable Text: All text on the platform can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
- Alternative Text: Images and non-text content include descriptive alternative text for screen reader users.
- Focus Indicators: Visible focus indicators are provided for all interactive elements to assist keyboard users.
- Form Labels: All form inputs include associated labels and clear error messages to guide users through data entry.
- Responsive Design: The platform adapts to various screen sizes and orientations to support users on different devices.
Ongoing Efforts
Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We regularly review and test our platform to identify and address accessibility barriers. Our approach includes:
- Automated accessibility testing as part of our development process.
- Manual testing with assistive technologies including screen readers and keyboard-only navigation.
- Periodic third-party accessibility audits.
- Accessibility training for our design and development teams.
